Refining your Results

There are two ways of refining your search results. Firstly you can make permanent refining options through the adjustment of your Search Settings .

Alternatively, there are ways to refine your options when you are on your search results page.

In this instance, to minimise the number of results you have to look through, we have provided functionality to narrow your search results using the 'Preferred View' option. As Figure 31 illustrates you can choose to view; text only (i.e. Documents containing mostly text such as Word, PDF, web pages, etc), text and images or indeed choose to display only the title of the search result.

You can also use the left-hand panel to refine your results. To activate a particular refinement option, simply click on the name of the option you want to activate (Figure 32)

Within the first refinement box, you can select a number of result refinement options, including the file format and date of publication. Within the second MeSH taxonomy box, you can narrow down your results to a specific clinical area. For example within the subject of Asthma, you can choose to see only results for diagnosis of asthma.
